If you’re not overly familiar with the blow molding process, this information will clarify some of the key points. To begin with, this is a type of manufacturing process used to produce hollow plastic parts and products. It requires a special plastic molding machine that’s accurate and reliable.
Although manufacturers rely on state-of-the-art plastic blow molding machines to make all kinds of products, they’re used primarily for creating jars and containers. That includes all kinds of things. Not only that, but by adding an additional process, manufacturing companies can stretch plastic material to come up with products of different sizes and shapes.
Examples of Products Made with a Plastic Molding Machine
To better appreciate the work of a plastic molding machine manufacturer, consider some examples of the products made. Remember, these are things that millions of people all over the world depend on daily.
- Water Bottles
- Children’s Toys
- Shampoo and Conditioner Bottles
- Water Coolers
- Garden Watering Cans
- Milk Jugs
- Food Containers
- Serving Trays
The list of possibilities is almost endless. Keep in mind that for customers who use the services of a plastic molding machine manufacturer, it’s important to know that they use cutting-edge machinery that’s operated by highly trained individuals. That way, the finished product meets specific criteria.
How Does a Plastic Molding Machine Work?
There are two parts of what plastic blow molding machines do. First, an injection blow molding manufacturer creates a preform out of molten plastic. That serves as the foundation of the product. Second, the machine blows pressurized air into the preform to inflate it into the shape required by the customer.
Breaking it down, to make the preform, polymer goes into a heated cavity of the plastic molding machine and onto a core pin. From there, the cavity mold closes. That’s what gives the outer part of the product its shape while the pin shapes the preform. As this goes through the process, the polymer begins to appear as a container, jar, or bottle.
Once the mold of plastic blow molding machines opens, the core rod pushes the part or product to what’s called a blow station. At that time, compressed air gets blown inside of the preform. With that complete and the item cooled, it gets ejected. That’s when you see the exact product ordered by the customer.
A plastic molding machine manufacturer typically uses this particular process for smaller containers, jars, and bottles. Along with the food and beverage industry, this is ideal for things used within the hospitality and pharmaceutical industries. For instance, this is the process used to produce the tiny shampoo and conditioner samples left for guests in hotel rooms.
