Semi-finished products from igus®: more variety and less wear

Plastics and plain bearings expert igus enhances its special program for tribo-polymer applications with iglide® semi-finished products in new sizes and diameters

East Providence, RI – November 12, 2013 – iglide round bars and plates from the tribo-polymer specialist igus are becoming more diverse to facilitate user adaptations of individual machine requirements. Because igus semi-finished products are made of tested iglide bearing material, all respective bearings can be calculated in advance with the help of the specially developed expert system. Meanwhile, 10 iglide materials with specific features are available for a wide variety of industries, including food processing and packaging, tobacco, and the healthcare industry.

An array of new sizes of semi-finished products are now available, making custom parts in a broader range of sizes possible. Round plates are now available in .78, 1.18, 1.57, 1.96, and 2.36 inch diameters in the iglide A350 material. Suitable for medium to high loads and temperatures above 350ºF, the iglide A350 is also FDA acceptable for food contact. Round bars, including the J4 material, are now available in 4 new dimensions, lengths of .78, 1.57, 1.96, and 2.36 inches. Round bars are available from stock in full bars up to 3.28 feet, in increments of 3.9 inches. Diameters vary between .39 and 3.9 inches.

The scope also grows for slide rails and rings: iglide plates suitable for such parts are now available in 7 material thicknesses, from .08 to .98 inches. When used for guide tubes in operation tables, telescoping arms for loading cranes r slide rails, all plates from igus are made of the proven tribo-optimized plastic iglide J. The high-performance material is exceedingly wear and chemical resistant, as well as lubrication and maintenance free.
