Washington Mills, a leading manufacturer of abrasive grain and fused minerals, offers a red iron oxide coating called REDKOTE that is ceramically bonded to the grain. The REDKOTE process uses a lead-free and controlled high temperature heat treatment that increases the surface area of the grain and assists in creating a better bond for grinding wheels.   Major applications for DURALUM (brown aluminum oxide) REDKOTE are: Cut-off wheels, hot pressed steel conditioning wheels, cold pressed foundry wheels, depressed center wheels, rubber bonded wheels and track grinding wheels.
